I quick-link or snap-off chain connectors, such as the XLC Link CC-X27 chain lock, are increasingly becoming the most common way to connect a chain. They consist of two parts that are attached to both ends of the chain. A quick-release fastener is pushed together and then snaps into place with little effort. Additionally, it makes removing the chain easier if the bicycle and/or drivetrain need a thorough cleaning, and if you keep one in your pants pocket as a spare, a quick-release chain lock can also get you out of trouble if the chain breaks during a ride.
The XLC CC-X27 chain lock is designed for use with 11-speed chains and is therefore compatible with most modern road bikes and city bikes.
