Schwalbe becomes the first company in the bicycle industry to use a new carcass structure, something the automotive world had already experimented with and used, but this technology makes its debut with the new Schwalbe tires. It abandons the carcass structure with the 45° filament placement. The carcass construction has a filament arrangement with a more obtuse angle. So on the outside, the compounds and technologies used by Schwalbe remain the same, but inside, what is not visible changes completely. This technology, named Radial by Schwalbe and refined throughout the entire Downhill World Cup season, leads to new riding sensations and tire behavior. The filament arrangement ensures that the carcass material overlaps with less tension and in a shorter manner, this way the tire deforms more precisely to react more flexibly and adaptably to the terrain and its obstacles. The contact area between the tread and the ground increases by 30% compared to traditional tires, and even with pressure increases of 50%, the contact area remains 15% higher with the same flexibility. This means the internal pressure can be customized more reliably in terms of performance without negatively impacting handling. From the development of the Tacky Chan, a model developed and launched last year, the designers have arrived at the Albert Gravity. The knobs of the Tacky Chan were adopted to ensure higher braking margins, durability, and lateral force transfer. The result is a rounder and more compact tire with a larger ground contact surface guaranteed by the knob module used.
