The CYCLUS TOOLS chain wear tester, equipped with a graduated scale for different chain types, including SRAM Flattop, allows you to quickly and reliably determine the right time to replace the chain. If a worn chain is not replaced in time, shifting performance deteriorates. Furthermore, sprockets, chainrings, and derailleur pulleys wear out prematurely and must also be replaced.

The wear gauge uses two measuring prongs that act on the chain rollers, on the inner plates, always from the same left side. In this way, the measurement result is independent of the roller size and their play. It is possible to measure all inch-pitch chains, including SRAM AXS. A third prong applies tension to the chain via a spring. This ensures that the measurement process is not influenced by the force manually exerted by the user when inserting the prongs. The degree of wear is then displayed on an easy-to-read scale. The "Stop" mark corresponds to 1% chain elongation.

Note: Most bicycle chain manufacturers recommend replacement at the following elongation values: 0.5% (11-13 speed), 0.75% (9-10 speed), 1% (all other chains).

Instructions for use: The bicycle chain to be measured must be clean so as not to alter the result. Tension the tester with two fingers so that the spring is fully tensioned. Then insert the two measuring prongs into the inner plates of the chain. The tension prong must also be inserted into an inner plate. Slowly release the tension prong. The display shows the exact chain elongation.
