Rim protector insert Rim Protector 29 is made of blown polyurethane. Put simply, it is a strong and highly shock absorbing rubberized polymer. Polyurethane elastomer is often used in shock absorbers in F1 cars and in the aerospace industry. Using a high-density cushioning material that takes up a fraction of the tire space, lasts longer and does not affect the dynamics of the air pressure. The advantage of this is that you can set your tires how you like them and you won't even notice they're there! You can be safer when cornering at low pressure because the edges of the Rockstop Rim Protector push against the side walls of your tire while holding it in place. It also feels a bit firmer on the sidewalls of the tire at the bottom as it approaches the rim. This prevents the tire from at lower pressures when cornering. The holes present do two things, they allow the sealant to flow quickly through the wheel so that it does not get stuck and becomes ineffective and keeps the weight of the insert low. Raised cross profiles on both sides of the holes give strength to the outer insert guides which in turn pushes against the sidewall of the tire for extra grip and stability. No specific valves are needed, you can use any of the holes to wrap the valve and fit the insert around the rest of the wheel.
