The Hope Direct Mount chainring has special teeth with narrow and wide shape, which prevent jumping from the chains. In combination with a SRAM Type2 or Shimano Shadow + rear derailleur, which have a significantly higher cage bias, the chain is held reliably in place even without a chain guide. These chainrings only fit the patented HOPE Spiederless Retainer system, therefore only compatible with the HOPE crank.
